1. Introduction
OpenSKY Academy Ltd is committed to preventing modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation in all areas of our business and supply chain.
Although our company is not legally required to produce a statement under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we choose to do so voluntarily in line with our values and ethical responsibilities as an education and technology provider with global reach.
2. Our Organisation
OpenSKY Academy Ltd is a UK-based education and technology company that designs and delivers aircraft maintenance training and STEM education content. While we are a small team, we partner with suppliers, educators, contractors, and learners around the world.
We operate with transparency, integrity, and fairness in all our relationships.
3. Our Commitment
We are committed to ensuring that:
- Modern slavery and human trafficking do not exist in our operations or supply chains
- We act ethically and with integrity in all business relationships
- We implement and maintain effective systems and controls to safeguard human rights
- We promote awareness of modern slavery among our staff, contractors, and partners
4. Understanding Modern Slavery
Modern slavery includes:
- Human trafficking
- Forced or compulsory labour
- Slavery and servitude
- Exploitation of vulnerable individuals
- Deceptive recruitment practices
We recognise that all businesses — regardless of size or sector — can be exposed to these risks and must take proactive measures to prevent them.
5. Our Supply Chain and Partners
Our supply chain is relatively simple and includes:
- Educational content providers
- LMS and technology platforms
- Freelance educators and consultants
- Marketing and digital services
- Software and cloud service providers
We expect all suppliers, contractors, and partners to comply with the Modern Slavery Act and relevant international standards, and we reserve the right to terminate any relationship with a third party found to be in breach of these standards.
6. Due Diligence and Risk Assessment
We undertake reasonable and proportionate due diligence to assess and mitigate risks of modern slavery by:
- Using ethical criteria when selecting new suppliers or partners
- Reviewing publicly available information on companies we work with
- Requiring written confirmation of compliance where applicable
- Monitoring relationships where services involve labour-intensive or overseas activity
7. Training and Awareness
While our staff team is small, we ensure that:
- All staff are made aware of what modern slavery is and how to report concerns
- Key personnel responsible for procurement and partnerships understand due diligence requirements
- Our values of transparency and ethical conduct are embedded into daily operations
8. Reporting Concerns
OpenSKY Academy has a clear and open reporting procedure. Anyone — including staff, learners, or partners — can raise a concern or suspicion about potential modern slavery by contacting:
safeguarding@openskyacademy.com (confidential inbox)
We take all concerns seriously and respond promptly.
9. Policy Review and Transparency
This policy is reviewed annually and updated as needed. Though we are not legally required to publish a Modern Slavery Statement, we do so voluntarily and make it available on our website to demonstrate transparency and ethical leadership.
10. Approval
This policy has been approved by the Managing Director of OpenSKY Academy Ltd and reflects our ongoing commitment to prevent modern slavery and protect human rights.
